Personal Training

A uniquely customized exercise program focusing on resistance and cardiovascular training. Proper nutrition and wellness guidelines can be included as well as sessions aimed at improving progress and results. 30 and 60 minute individual or partner sessions available.

Nutrition Counseling

Rx Fitness’ nutrition counseling program is an ongoing process that works closely with our clients to assess his or her usual dietary intake and nutrition habits while also identifying areas where change and improvement is needed. We are dedicated to helping you reach your fitness goals in a variety of ways.

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)

This dynamic muscular assessment system analyzes and corrects muscular imbalances. It has the potential to significantly improve functional capabilities in people of all ages. MAT is successful in injury rehabilitation, and the reduction and elimination of pain and fatigue, as well as enhancing muscle recovery.

JOHN BURROWS/ CO-OWNER

John received his Associate’s degree in Exercise Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Behavior Science from the University of Delaware. Being a personal trainer for 18 years, John also teaches Introduction to Nutrition and Sports Nutrition as an adjunct instructor at Delaware Technical Community College.

John is currently in the process of redeveloping his training model for weight loss and chronic disease prevention and management. There is low success rate for weight loss, and the current weight loss models need to make major adjustments. After observing that most weight loss is short term and not being maintained, John is exploring a new horizon and is excited to be working with many experts in the
biological sciences. If you are currently struggling with your weight, have developed type 2 diabetes, or have had many failed attempts at losing weight, John is ready to take you to a new horizon and bring about the change that you have been waiting for.

LORI WALKER/ CO-OWNER

Lori Walker co-founded Rx Fitness in 2009. During her 38 years in the health, fitness and wellness industries, Lori has always been driven by a passion to help people move better and feel better. Her extensive professional education and experience provides the tools to help clients with musculoskeletal and movement issues. Clients will verify this trainer’s insistence on form and movement precision during the workout and in daily life, which is paramount to those who are trying to avoid or alleviate injury!

Clint Dager

PERSONAL TRAINER / CYCLIST
Clint has been with Rx Fitness team since the founding. Clint is a graduate of Del. Tech (Exercise Science) and University of Delaware (B.S. in Health and Behavior Science). With 12+ years experience with personal training Clint has worked with every type of demographic you can imagine. In his spare time Clint races in professional level road cycling events as a Category 1 road cyclist. He also has a wealth of knowledge on martial arts and kickboxing, and loves working that into his clients programs.

Christofer Day

PERSONAL TRAINER / FUNCTIONAL TRAINER
Chris is a lifelong exercise enthusiast and athlete. He enjoys assisting and motivating others to help them reach their personal goals. Chris accepts all ages and fitness levels. Chris' qualifications include a degrees in A.A.S. Exercise Science, CPR and AED certified, a personal trainer for 5 years creating individualized programs, functional training, weight loss training, strength and conditioning, balance / coordination exercises, and range of motion exercises.

Steve Sinko

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER / RUNNING COACH
Steve is an ACE certified personal trainer, a Newark Charter HS Cross Country and Track and Field coach, an online personal running coach, President of Move 2 incluDE, a lifelong competitive runner, the 3rd fastest marathoner in DE history, overall winner of the 2014 Myrtle Beach Marathon, two time sub 3 hour marathon as a duo team with running buddy Preston Buenaga. As a personal trainer and coach I help individuals come up with, set and reach their health and fitness goals.

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER / NUTRITION
I strongly believe that moving properly, eating well, getting enough sleep, and managing stress in this busy world are the keys to wellness. Most of my clients are looking to feel and move better. Because of that, I typically program my workouts around movements that translate over to real life situations and coach nutrition with realistic, sustainable strategies.

Ed Sowden

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
Ed is a Hockessin, DE native and joined the staff at Rx Fitness in 2018 as a Certified Personal Trainer. Prior to joining Rx, he enjoyed a successful 25 year career with DuPont as a Research Biologist. He received his Personal Trainer Certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), a nationally accredited organization widely recognized as the "gold standard" in the fitness industry. Those receiving certification through ACSM gain a medical science background with an emphasis on anatomy, physiology, fitness and the interactions between them. Although Ed is a skilled professional and enthusiastically supports all age groups, he specializes in assisting older populations in realizing their goals. Relating to and educating "Baby Boomers" are definitely in his wheelhouse and he strongly believes all adults must stay focused on fitness and nutrition in order to live their best lives!

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER / FUNCTIONAL TRAINER
Jeff Johns, owner of Chip Fitness in Newark, Delaware, is a certified personal trainer specializing in weight management, functional training, and athletic performance techniques. He has more than 18 years of operational facilities management and personal training experience. Clients come from all over the region to train with Jeff because of his unique ability to motivate individuals while compassionately supporting your specific needs and goals, both in and out of the gym.

Basil Greenwood

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
Basil has been a certified personal trainer since 2006. He is also an American Aerobics Association International personal trainer, an International Sports Medicine Association personal trainer, and CPR certified. Whether helping someone lose those last 20 pounds to be healthier, or getting a high school athlete ready to play in college, Basil has been blessed to build several great relationships. Those relationships, and the new ones in the future, are the foundation for Phenom Fitness.

Zina DiTonno

Zina takes years of racing, gymnastics, and aerial fitness experience to her work. She works with a variety of clients from athletes to those looking for overall fitness. She values creating a relationship with wellness and believes this comes from variety and unique training ideas. She is available for both health coaching and personal training. Zina also has her own Aerial Yoga Studio in Newark, DE called "Aerial Fun".

Kris is a Board Certified Therapeutic Massage and Body Worker (BCTMB), and has been a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) since 2004. Kris has eight years of experience providing medical massage to chiropractic patients recovering from automobile injuries. Her services include Swedish Massage, Medical, Sports, Deep Tissue and Chair Massage. Other modalities that Kris can provide include Myofascial Release, Shiatsu and Reflexology.

Tian Shao

LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST / CERTIFIED MEDICAL MASSAGE PRACTITIONER
Tian Shao is a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Certified Medical Massage Practitioner since 2006 in Delaware. Tian is also a Certified Medical Massage Practitioner. In order to increase her skills and effectiveness she also has spent considerable time in China taking more massage training classes. Tian has been in massage business for more than 15 years, and serving in Newark, DE for the last 13 years. Tian combines Western and Eastern massage strategy into her own skill. Acupressure, Sports, Cupping, Scrapping, and Deep Tissue are her specialties.
